How to get a job: a practical 30-day plan

Job hunting feels random when you apply to everything and hear nothing. It becomes manageable when you treat it as a weekly routine: a clear target, a CV that fits it, a steady number of quality applications, and practice for interviews.

Week 1: target and tools

  • Choose one or two job titles and the locations or remote options you want.
  • Rewrite your CV for that target.
  • Update your LinkedIn to match.

Weeks 2–3: apply with focus

  • Ten to twenty tailored applications a week.
  • Check your fit before applying and skip roles far outside it.
  • Follow up with a short message a week after applying.
  • Track every application in one place.

Week 4: interview readiness

  • Prepare your introduction and five STAR stories.
  • Do at least two full mock interviews.
  • Review which applications got replies and double down on those kinds of roles.
