Map where you are
- Skills you use easily that others find hard.
- Tasks that make time pass quickly.
- What you want from work: money, stability, flexibility, impact, status.
- Constraints: location, family, visa, finances.
Test roles cheaply
- Pick three possible roles.
- Read real job descriptions for each and note the skills you already have.
- Talk to two people doing each job.
- Try a small project or short course in the most promising one.
- Apply for an entry point: internship, junior role or adjacent job.
Build a plan
Once you choose a direction, list the gap between your current skills and the job, and a realistic timeline to close it. Revisit the plan every few months.
