Your main routes from India
- Skilled Worker visa: the standard sponsored route, mostly for graduate-level roles paying at least £41,700 or the going rate.
- Health and Care visa: for qualified nurses, doctors and allied health professionals.
- India Young Professionals Scheme: a ballot for Indian graduates aged 18 to 30 that gives up to two years in the UK without a job offer. Check GOV.UK for ballot dates.
- Intra-company transfer (Global Business Mobility): for staff moving from an Indian office to a UK branch of the same company.
What UK recruiters look for in Indian CVs
- Two pages at most, with no photo, date of birth, marital status or father's name.
- Achievements with numbers, not a list of duties.
- Clear job titles and client or product names, since service-company titles mean little to UK recruiters on their own.
- Right-to-work status answered in the application form, not buried in the CV.
Avoiding agent scams
No genuine UK employer charges you for a job or a Certificate of Sponsorship. Be wary of agents promising guaranteed visas, offers without an interview, or care worker jobs from abroad. That route closed to overseas applicants in July 2025. Always check the employer on the UK sponsor register and find the job on its own website.
