What the register tells you
- Organisation name: the legal name, which often differs from the brand (for example “Google UK Limited”).
- Town or city and county: where the licence is registered, not necessarily where the job is.
- Type and rating: “Worker” licences cover long-term routes such as Skilled Worker. An A rating means the sponsor can assign new certificates.
- Route: the visa routes the licence covers, such as Skilled Worker or Global Business Mobility.
How to check an employer properly
- Search the register for the company's legal name. If nothing comes up, try the brand name, a shorter version, or the parent company.
- Confirm the route includes Skilled Worker (or the visa you need).
- Check the rating. B-rated sponsors are on an action plan and cannot assign new certificates until they are upgraded.
- Read the job advert. A licensed employer can still decide not to sponsor a particular role.
Licensed is not the same as hiring
Tens of thousands of organisations hold a licence, and many of them are not hiring for your skills right now. The register tells you who can sponsor; you still need to find who is recruiting. That is why Rekruuter links the register to live job listings: you can search a sponsor and see its open roles, or filter the jobs board to employers on the register.
